Soft Skills in High Demand

Monday, November 28, 2016

While much has been said about the United States' declining standings in the STEM fields, employers are focusing on soft skills, finding a need that schools and training programs are having a hard time satisfying. Soft skills, which include communication, empathy, and emotional intelligence, can mean the difference between an employee’s success or failure at an organization. But why is there such a sudden demand for well-honed soft skills in the workplace? And the ability to deal with conflict and adapt to change is needed,” she said. “Things like that can be the difference between getting a job and keeping a job.”
