The Importance of Culture in Attracting Millennials

Monday, February 29, 2016

As the global marketplace’s priorities shift, so too must organizations’ priorities if they want to attract young, talented employees. Making a company appealing to younger people is no longer simply about production. It’s about storytelling, and corporate culture is a major part of that story. Millennials, like no group before them, are concerned with the ethics behind the organizations they work for. And in an increasingly transparent society, organizations with questionable practices are easily identified in the digital world. Nearly half of the workforce is made up of Millennials and 28 percent are in management positions. More than 70 percent of these individuals say that making a positive impact is important to them in their careers. It follows that if an organization isn’t affording them the opportunity to make that difference, they will more than likely look elsewhere. This is why culture and philosophy are becoming so important. Organizations that practice philanthropy, develop eco-friendly products, and embrace a familylike culture are the ones that will ultimately succeed in attracting younger generations.
