Wellness Programs Are Becoming More and More Popular

Monday, May 7, 2018

According to the recently released annual Health and Well-Being Survey from Fidelity Investments, companies across the U.S. are continuing to prioritize wellness programs to help employees lead healthier and more productive lifestyles. The study revealed that over two-thirds of companies plan to expand their well-being initiatives over the next three to five years, and many of these expansions won’t be specifically related to employees’ physical health. In addition to more traditional well-being initiatives like weight management or smoking cessation programs, emotional health programs as well as financial wellness programs are on the rise. Stress management training, community involvement, and social connectedness programs are also growing in popularity. “The fact that companies continue to dedicate an increasing amount of resources to their corporate well-being programs indicates they are having a positive impact on overall workforce performance,” says Robert Kennedy, senior vice president at Fidelity Benefits Consulting. “An employer’s well-being program is now overwhelmingly viewed as a platform to improve employee engagement, increase worker productivity, and reduce absenteeism.”
