When Training, a Data-Driven Approach Is Best

Tuesday, March 6, 2018

Understanding the importance of employee retention is one thing, but knowing how to keep employees retained on a day-to-day basis is another challenge entirely. One of the best ways is through training. It’s not a secret that well-trained employees are generally more engaged and more productive, while un- or under-trained employees tend to be less productive and more likely to become frustrated and leave. So how can organizations ensure their employees are adequately trained? Learning management systems can help make sure workers are challenged and have a clear path for advancement. One way to make sure a learning management system is effective is to ensure that it’s data-driven. Polls, surveys, and Q&A sessions can help managers and executives understand employee needs by providing a wealth of actionable data. Not only will this ensure that employees aren’t driven down unnecessary and unwanted training paths, it will also save resources and time in the long run. Additionally, by utilizing a data-driven strategy, management can visualize how their teams are progressing and where the pain points are.
