(Washington D.C.), May 21, 2019 – During its 2019 International Conference & Exposition held in Washington, D.C., the Association for Talent Development (ATD) recognized organizations and individuals for their excellence and contributions across the talent development field. The ATD Awards ceremony was held on May 20.

This year’s winner of the Champion of Talent Development Award is Dan Pink.

This award is presented to an individual outside the profession whose commitment, advocacy, and actions in support of talent development within or outside an organization have influenced audiences, organizations, or society.

“Learning isn’t passive,” Pink says. “It’s not something that’s done to people. It’s something people do for themselves. So if you’re waiting around to be taught, it could be a long wait. But if you adopt a different mindset—that learning is both critical to surviving in the modern workplace and one of the most exhilarating things human beings do—you’ll find yourself on the right path.”

Pink models that belief in his own work. The author of six bestselling books, he dives deep into his research to uncover truths that have transformative power.
