(Washington D.C.), May 21, 2019 – During its 2019 International Conference & Exposition held in Washington, D.C., the ATD Certification Institute recognized AutoNation with its Champion award. The recognition occurred during the ATD Awards ceremony at which organizations and individuals were honored for their excellence and contributions across the talent development field. The awards ceremony was held on May 20.

The ATD Certification Institute Champion Award is presented to an employer who demonstrates its commitment to and support of certification in the talent development profession.

AutoNation is the largest automobile retailer in the United States. A Fortune 500 company with 26,000 employees, it serves millions of customers from 325 locations in 16 states. Certification is an important part of the company’s talent development efforts. AutoNation’s new hires receive critical skills certification, and talent development professionals are encouraged to participate in professional development programs. The company strongly urges learning team members to pursue either the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP®) or Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD™) credential.

Company leadership believes certification is a differentiator for employees that correlates with increased retention, progress, and performance regardless of employee role. Leaders of the learning function believe that having certified talent development professionals on the team has elevated AutoNation’s approach to learning as well as the sophistication of its learning products.
