(Alexandria, VA), September 9, 2020—A collaborative partnership between LSU Online & Continuing Education and the Association for Talent Development (ATD)’s Certification Institute will give talent development certification holders a chance to gain college credits toward an online degree.

ATD’s Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) and Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) certification recipients will have an opportunity to apply their certifications for Louisiana State University college credit toward one of the eligible online degrees or graduate certificates—saving them time and money.

“ATD’s Certification Institute is delighted to bring the partnership with LSU Online to our APTD and CPTD recipients as another way to highlight their knowledge, expertise, and accomplishments,” said Morgean Hirt, director of credentialing at ATD. “Pairing the hands-on work experience and knowledge gained by their ATD credential with rigorous academic work will bring a new group of leaders to the workplace to help organizations and employees achieve their goals. We are pleased that our certifications can help put an academic degree in closer reach for our certificants.”

The APTD credential is approved for:

  • Three credits toward an online bachelor of science in leadership and human resource development (LHRD)
  • Three credits toward an online bachelor of science in learning experience design and innovation (LXDI)
  • Three credits toward an online master of science in leadership and human resource development (LHRD)
  • Three credits toward an online graduate certificate in workforce development

The CPTD credential is approved for:

  • Six credits toward an online bachelor of science in leadership and human resource development (LHRD)
  • Six credits toward an online bachelor of science in learning experience design and innovation (LXDI)
  • Three credits toward an online master of science in leadership and human resource development (LHRD)
  • Three credits toward an online graduate certificate in workforce development

“I am thrilled that the partnership between ATD and LSU Online can use prior learning assessments to fulfill college credits in our programs,” said Missy Korduner, LSU School of Leadership and Human Resource Development assistant professor of professional practice and local ATD chapter president. “It recognizes that professionals often have a wealth of experience through other training and professional development that are relevant to obtaining a college degree. It's a win-win for everyone involved by breaking down barriers and further opening doors to those interested in completing their degree.”
