Carl A. Anderson, vice president at Van Scoyoc Associates, has spent more than 12 years in the federal government and on Capitol Hill. He specializes in communications and information technology, healthcare policy, cyber security, and energy policy. He served as a counsel on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, tackling several high profile investigations and examining the growing areas of cyber threats and cybersecurity.  Carl previously served at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in the Office of Justice Programs where he managed internal investigations and litigation, and responded to congressional requests and investigations. He was also selected into the Attorney General’s Honors Program, served in the Civil Rights Division at the DOJ, and was appointed as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia.  Carl graduated from Virginia Tech with a BA in political science and received a JD from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America. He has been admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia.

Dr. Bernadette Costello is the managing partner for BCC Consulting. The foundation of her coaching and consulting practice is “you are exactly where you are supposed to be.” Affirming where you are is the first step in any transformation. She has worked in the public, nonprofit, and higher education sectors to create learning and development programs for leadership and supervisory development, managing performance, managing change, and a wide variety of professional development topics. She is certified in several assessment tools including Myers Briggs, DiSC, EQi, and Appreciation in the Workplace MBA.Bernadette has more than 25 years of talent development, coaching, consulting, and leadership experience in human resources and talent development. She is also an adjunct faculty member at George Mason University’s School of Business and Schar School of Policy and Government.Bernadette has served as president of the Metro DC Chapter of the ATD and as chair of the ATD Leader’s Conference Program Advisory Committee and was a member of ATD’s National Advisors for Chapters. She has served on other professional organizations in leadership and volunteer roles with Virginia Colleges and Universities Personnel Association (CUPA) and the International Personnel Management Association (IPMA). Bernadette received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Southern Illinois University, a master’s degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a doctorate in higher education from George Mason University. She is an ACC-certified coach and an Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner and holds a SHRM-SCP certification.

Elizabeth specializes in providing support to all HR functional areas within Hilton Worldwide’s Global Headquarters in McLean, Virginia. She facilitates bi-weekly Orientation sessions and coordinates the onboarding process for corporate new hires. A travel enthusiast, Elizabeth has embraced her two years with Hilton Worldwide and is passionate about collaborating with key team members to constantly innovate and continually improve the Global Onboarding Program.

With almost 20 years of management experience in fields including banking, associations and retail, Catherine Wemette (she/her/hers) has a unique perspective on how to get the best out of people. She started Good for the Soul LLC in 2014 to help organizations cultivate their talent and get results through coaching, facilitation, training and project management. As the chief goodness officer, she is responsible for helping others achieve their success and celebrating wins along the way. Most recently, she worked with the American Institute of Architects as their first Director of Employee Learning and Engagement, overseeing five years of continued growth in their employee engagement as measured by Gallup’s Q12 survey.Prior to taking an association hiatus to work for her favorite shoe designer, John Fluevog, Catherine served as the membership director for the Licensing Executives Society (USA & Canada). Additional association experience includes the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) in chapter relations, membership and education departments.Catherine is a life-long learner and an avid West Wing fan. In the theme of “what’s next?” she most recently earned her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute in 2020. She earned her executive certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown and received her Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential in 2020. She also received her Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential in 2009 and is a member of both the International Coaching Federation and ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership. She completed her Master of Public Administration with a concentration in nonprofit management from The George Washington University and graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan with a BA in communications and political science. In her spare time, she tries to figure out how a Minnesota girl ended up in Virginia with no snow for any sort of regular skiing (though she is a fan of the Virginia wineries, so it’s not all bad news).

Catherine Wemette

Daniel Lobb started his career in the tour and travel industry with Allways Tours, Inc. His first trip was escorting a group of senior adults to Williamsburg, Virginia, on September 11, 2001. He very quickly learned the importance of keeping calm and serving the customer, which became the keynote of his eight-year tenure with that company as he went on to hold nearly every position.  In 2008, Lobb decided to align his passions in leadership and customer service with adult education and joined TRP Enterprises, Inc. The mission of TRP is to help people make internal discoveries that enable them to stay positive, productive, and effective. He leads client relations for TRP and specializes in training design and delivery. He received the CPLP in 2012, and has served on the ATD Piedmont board for four years, including president 2013. In 2015 he joins ATD's National Advisor for Chapters team to share his love of learning with other chapter leaders around the country. Daniel is a private pilot, a bee-keeper, and with his wife Irene, parent of three young boys.
