ABOUT ME

As Director of Learning and DevelopmentAlex leads the Professional Development needs for the organization. As a founding member of the organizations L&D team her projects include the design and rollout of the organizations first comprehensive onboarding program, enhancements to the management training initiative and creating the organizations first corporate university. 

In her previous role as Director of Professional Development, Alejandra managed the team responsible for training Summer Advantage USA staff to effectively implement the mission in service of over 2,000 scholars each summer.  In this role, Alejandra project managed professional development for approximately 400 staff, creating in-person content, online content, and facilitating workshops nationally.  Additionally, Alejandra recruited, hired, managed, and coached a team of 2 full-time staff and 15-20 per diem training consultants.

     Alejandra joined Summer Advantage USA in January of 2012 and held roles as Associate Director and Director of Training and Development. In her time at Summer Advantage she supported organization wide initiatives including designing the Professional Development model for the Phalen Leadership Academies Charter School Network; which was subsequently approved by the Department of Education to open 10 schools.

      In her work at Phalen Leadership Academies, Alejandra created and launched a blended learning professional development model; including building from the ground up the highly immersive online learning program – PLA University. Through her Phalen Leadership Academies efforts she manages the professional development of over 300 educators; ultimately serving 4,000+ students throughout Indiana and Michigan.

     Alejandra is passionate about professional development and youth; in her free time, she volunteers as a college and career coach for high school seniors. She has published half a dozen articles for T+D Magazine, which is published by the Association of Training and Development (ATD), and LEARN, which is published by the NY Metro chapter of ATD, and most recently contributed to the ATD published Leadership Lessons for Any Occasion: Stories of Our Mothers by Ed and Nila Botef.
