Brien Walton
ABOUT ME

Dr. Brien Walton is the Director of the Center for Family Business at Husson University, in addition to being the CEO of Acadia Capital Management II, Inc. (ACM2), a U.S. Treasury-certified community development entity based in Bangor, Maine, authorized to issue new markets tax credits to economic development projects nationwide.  An organizational development consultant for the past 20 years, Dr. Walton is a leading authority in leveraging emotional intelligence for managerial success, and regularly advises investment banks, venture capital funds, and private equity firms, in talent recruitment, retention, and change management for their portfolio companies.  At the Center for Family Business, he is currently leading a multi-year study on corporate change management and best practices for managing a multigenerational workforce.  Before Husson, Dr. Walton spent 15 years teaching business management and structured finance, and was the founding CEO of Education Design Studio, Inc., which is the venture capital fund and technology incubator sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education.  During his career, he has also worked as a corporate tax attorney, commercial lender, and business broker, holding professional licenses in multiple states.  Dr. Walton earned a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Learning Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania; a Juris Doctorate in Law at the University of D.C., a Master of Education in Workforce Development at the University of Pennsylvania; a Master of Arts in Educational Technologies at Harvard University; a Master of Laws in Taxation at Georgetown University; a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of D.C.; and a Graduate Certificate in Leadership Development at the Wharton School of Business.
