Damona Barnes is the Training and Development Specialist at Barriere Construction in Metairie, LA. Her primary responsibilities consists of leading the organization’s corporate learning platform, working with executives to align training and development programs within their departments, assisting with the completion of the performance evaluation program, developing workforce plans for operating groups and establishing career development plans for supervisors.
Damona has over ten years of experience within Human Resources field, including five years of specialized experience within learning and development. Some of her interests within Human Resources include succession planning, leadership and organizational development, training, and recruiting. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Education with a concentration in Human Resource and Leadership Development from Louisiana State University in August 2009. She has also obtained her PHR certification through HRCI and SHRM-CP certification through SHRM.
Damona was a six-year board member of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Association for Talent Development and held the positions of VP of Professional Development, VP of Membership, President-Elect, President and Past President. She is now a member of the New Orleans Chapter of the Association for Talent Development and a national member of the Association for Talent Development. She is also a local member of the New Orleans Society of Human Resource Management (NOLA SHRM), national member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and is a provisional member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge. Outside of her community involvement, Damona enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends, her husband Kenneth, and their two cats.
