Darrell Hutten
ABOUT ME
Darrell Van Hutten joined Defense Acquisition University in 2005 as a faculty in the 10-week, case study-based Program Manager’s Course. In 2007, he was selected as the director of the Program Manager’s Course. While course director, he oversaw numerous improvements to the course, as well as the expansion of course delivery to three additional DAU campuses. Prior to joining DAU, he served more than 27 years in the U.S. Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps where he acquired more than 15 years of contracting and program management experience. Van Hutten's tours included command of Officer in Charge of Construction, Naples, Italy, where he managed a $700 million construction/lease-construction program and command of Engineering Field Activity, Mediterranean, where he managed Navy construction programs at 10 bases in six European and Southwest Asian countries. Level III certified in contracting and facilities engineering, Van Hutten holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering, a master of science degree in electrical engineering, and a master of science degree in systems management. He is also a graduate of the Naval War College seminar program, the Advanced Management Program at The Wharton School, and DAU’s Program Manager’s Course. He has taught at the Civil Engineer Corps Officer School and has been an adjunct professor for the University of Maryland and Valdosta State University.
