ABOUT ME

Doug Kruger – Professional Biography

Doug brings well over 30 years of professional and leadership experience to his role as Manager of Global Leadership and Learning at Spectrum Brands.

The bulk of Doug’s experience and tenure comes from his many roles at the Walt Disney Company, specifically within the Parks and Resorts business in Anaheim, CA.  In 28+ years with the Disney Company, he had 24 different jobs in 5 different divisions of the company.  This included experience as a leader in the Operations division, Employee Services, Operations Training, Hotel Operations, and Sales.  Ultimately he found a passion for Leadership Development and was able to leverage his many years and various experiences in several roles in the Disney University.  There he developed and delivered specific  internal Leadership Development content around topics such as Feedback and Coaching, Systems Thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Leadership Behavior Instruments and Guest Service.  He also designed and delivered an all encompassing 5 day Leadership Foundation Course to over 1500 leaders throughout the organization.

He left Disney in 2005 to pursue an opportunity to lead and build a Leadership Development team and learning content to support a Financial Management Company.  It was here that he was able to translate his experiences and content to a distinctly different audience and target.  With his team, they built LeaderShift, a Leadership Foundations Course that served as the education arm of the company’s succession planning efforts.  Unfortunately, this private company closed after two years, but in that process Doug learned a number of lessons about how to manage change and educate leaders to do so as well.

After a brief return to Disney as the Manager of Leadership Development in the Disney University he went on to become the project lead for the West Coast Leadership Conference, a $3.2 million bi-coastal learning event in conjunction with the Orlando site.  This event brought together leaders from all of the West Coast locations from Parks and Resorts in a 3 day conference with globally known keynote speakers, over 100 plenary sessions and a high tech exposition hall.

He joined Stanley Black and Decker in June of 2010 as Learning and Organizational Development Manager supporting the Marketing and Sales Teams of HHI.   Presently, he is a member of the Organizational Effectiveness, Learning and Communications team, which is the Center of Excellence framework for delivery to all of Spectrum Brands.  As a proud member of that team, he is delighted to share his broad range of leadership experiences and background to deliver best in class Leadership Development content for Spectrum Brands.
