I am a writer, consultant, former executive and the Managing Partner of Distance Consulting LLC, where I am the Chief Toolmaker and the Lead Solution Engineer.  I spent 20 years in the United States Navy where I was trained as a technician, a classroom instructor, a writer of programmed instructional materials and an internal organization development (OD) consultant.  After retiring from the Navy, my career in the private sector included several years in small consulting firms, several more as an independent consultant and two executive-level positions with client firms: Monarch Financial Services in NYC, and Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton, NJ, where I spent a dozen years as an Executive Director.  I have published dozens of articles related to training, human behavior and performance, strategy, strategic planning, strategic decision-making, and change management.  They can be found on my web site at www.nickols.us.
