ABOUT ME

As an experienced training manager, instructional designer, and teacher I am known for my enthusiastic, learner-focused approach to teaching. For me, staying up-to-date with the newest instructional design techniques and technology is more of a hobby than a job requirement.

I am currently setting up a new training and technical writing team to support Micron's Global Facilities and Environmental, Health, and Safety functions. My team's job is the alignment of culture, business processes, standards, and documentation for facilities and EHS groups at manufacturing and non-manufacturing sites in 42 countries around the world.

In 2007, I completed an expatriate assignment in Kobe, Japan. There I gained valuable cross-cultural teaching experience and learned enough Japanese to order a meal and find the right train.

From 2003 to 2015, I served as a faculty member for the Idaho Certified Public Manager Program teaching the State of Idaho's future managers business writing, technical writing, problem-solving, basic project management, and public speaking.

Other experiences include:

- Developing and leading a museum education program as education director at The Discovery Center of Idaho
- Receiving the Christa McAuliffe Fellowship awarded in honor of NASA’s first Teacher-in-Spacei n 1989
- Teaching math and science in sign language at the Idaho School for the Deaf for five years
- Co-authoring Power Tools for Business Writing with Julie Levitt, published by Cengage and found on Amazon.com

When I am not spending time with my wife Shana, I am maintaining and driving the coolest 1965 Mustang in town, playing drums, and listening to Motown.
