I believe in participatory culture in online learning and the development of innovative learning opportunities. I don't create learning, I create opportunities for learning. I believe this with my whole being because we only truly possess our own experiences and for learning to occur, the learner must feel connected to the experience. I believe in story-based curriculum, hands-on scenarios, and placing the potential learner in a situation where they have to do more than read a screen and click a mouse.
I'm an early adopter of new technology and love to experiment with new ideas. I have been designing curriculum with an emphasis on web-based delivery for over 20 years.
On the backend, I've overseen the implementation of several different Learning Management Systems, some from unboxing to implementation.
Specialties: Leading elearning design, interfacing with internal leadership teams to determine needs and with community leaders to share learning opportunities, LMS management, LMS implementation, Captivate, video editing/production, audio editing, narration, photography, photo editing (Photoshop). I dabble in HTML, Java, CSS, CMS, Adobe CS, and pretty much anything else I find interesting.
In addition to all things elearning, I also enjoy public speaking, writing, painting, giving new life to old architectural elements, and gardening. I am a dog lover and am in a serious relationship with coffee.
I greatly enjoy the exchange of ideas and the sharing of best practices, tips, tricks, and pitfalls with my colleagues. Feel free to connect with me via twitter @misalenke (I return follows).
