ABOUT ME

I grew up in northern New Jersey, specifically in the picturesque town of Florham Park.  After graduating from the local high school, I went on to Georgetown Universtiy (DC), where I majored in history and minored in English.  On campus, I became involved with such groups as Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Sigma Num, and Phi Alpha Theta.  I was also a volunteer tutor at a DC halfway house, where I worked with adult students preparing for GED exams, developing resumes/cover letters or other documents required for a job search, and I offered private and group communication skill development sessions, where students enhanced their verbal abilities in anticipation of university/employer interviews.

After Georgetown, I taught in the special needs department of a local middle school.  However, still feeling insecure that this professional path was right for me, I returned to school, this time to Teachers College Columbia University.  As a student in the Organization & Leadership Program (with a focus on Higher and Post-secondary Education) I studied Curriculum and Instruction under Prof. Anna Neumann, in addition to Student Personnel with Prof. T. Rock. Undoubtedly, my TC experience directly encouraged my desire to work in the planning, development, creation, and ultimate implementation of engaging, effective L&D for corporate audiences.

Sadly, after the untimely death of my Firm's C.E.O. (who happened to be lead SME, too), shifts in company leadership led to quickly shifting managerial priorities.  I realized that my time at Cathedral/PJC had come to an end, and my knowledge and enthusiasm could be better applied to other educational causes.  At this point, I became an Independent, Self-Employed Contractor (affiliated with Care.com, Wyzant.com, Tutor.com, and my local public library), and I have had the opportunity to work with students ranging from 6 to 20 and who live across the country (e.g., Boston, Chicago, California) and around the world (Morocco, Ireland, U.K.).
