Quaiser Abdullah
ABOUT ME

Quaiser Abdullah is an Assistant Professor in the Adult and Organizational Communication program in the Department of Policy, Organizational and Leadership Studies in the College of Education at Temple University. He teaches undergraduate courses on Leadership and Communication, Research Methods, Organizational Communication, Conflict and Classroom Management, and Field Practicum. He also teaches a graduate course on Innovation, Technology and Teaching in Higher Education, in the College of Education. Quaiser earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Religion, with a minor in Asian Studies. He then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Adult and Organizational Development and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Temple University.

 

Quaiser has been a faculty member at Temple for 12 years. In addition to the College of Education, Quaiser also taught the Cyberspace and Society course (and its predecessors) in the College of Science and Technology for over 10 years. Prior to this he served as the Senior Training Manager for the Finance Competency Center and as the Assistant Director and Quality Assurance Manager for Client Services in Computer Services at Temple University.

 

Quaiser’s research interests center around leadership, organizational development and identity and conflict. He authored the chapter entitled “Muslim Leader Formation and Education,” published by SAGE in the Religious Leadership: A Reference Handbook (2012). His chapter, “Daanaa Abdullah: Exemplar of Community Leadership” was published in Democratic Ethical Educational Leadership: Reclaiming School Reform, in 2015 by Routledge. He has a number of published interviews on the topic of religion and identity in public spaces in various news media. He is also a frequent guest presenter to local and national audiences on topics relating to Islam, identity and conflict.

 

Quaiser is the recipient of the Outstanding Instructor Award (2008) for his teaching in the College of Science and Technology. He also received the Captain Eileen Bradley Award (2010) for student development. Quaiser is a certified professional coach and a trained mediator in the area of Transformative Mediation, with a focus on family, divorce and custody mediation. He is the faculty advisor for the Muslim Student Association and the Practitioners of Organizational Development Society at Temple. He is a board member of the Interfaith Center of Greater Philadelphia, serves as Police Chaplain for the 18th District in Philadelphia and his currently the COO, Interim Director of the board and Imam at Quba Institute, a 60-year old non-profit religious organization in Philadelphia.
