ABOUT ME

 

I’ve designed, developed, and managed training solutions, workforce planning, and human resources projects for commercial, higher education, military, civilian government, and intelligence community organizations in all media formats and instructional delivery modes for the past 35 years.   I presently work as Senior Instructional Developer at DarkStar Intelligence in Virginia, and Adjunct Professor in Instructional Systems Development at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.   Prior to my current position, I’ve worked for IBM as a Senior Managing Consultant in their Learning Solutions Practice for 10 years, and served in a comparable role at Booz Allen Hamilton for 7 years.

In addition to being a faculty member in the University of Maryland - Baltimore County Graduate Program in Instructional Systems Development for the past three years, I’ve been a guest lecturer and doctoral committee member at Virginia Tech in their Adult Learning and Human Development Masters/Doctoral program for the past nine years. 

I received a PhD in Instructional Systems is from Florida State University (1981), a Master’s in Education in Instructional Media from the University of Miami (1976), and a B.A in Mass Communications from the University of Miami (1972).  For the past 35 years, I have been active in research projects; co-authored several books on leadership and training; published and delivered 68 papers/presentations at national and international professional associations and companies; and served on eight doctoral committees at five universities in the areas of Instructional Design and Human Performance Technology.  

I hold both an active TS/SCI Clearance with Full-Scope Polygraph and a DoD Top Secret Clearance, having served clients in classified training and work environments for over 18 years. As an experienced Program and Project Manager, I’ve successfully completed 32 projects in numerous government and commercial settings. I serve as a domain subject matter expert in Instructional Design Theory for the American Society for Training and Development.
