Sam Caballero is a Talent Development professional and co-founder of Relego Group, a talent engagement organization providing a variety of learning programs and solutions to enhance organizational performance. He is a First Sergeant assigned to the 26th Aerial Port Squadron located at Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland where he directly supports over 150 reserve members in the areas of professional development, unit moral and welfare. Additionally, he is the VP of Finance for the Association of Talent Development – San Antonio Chapter. An Alexandria, Virginia based organization providing information and best practices on enhancing employee performance in the workplace to its members. He is also the Director of Strategy for iEmpower. A San Antonio, Texas based organization with the purpose of promoting, elevating and inspiring women by providing a variety of self-development workshops, engaging keynote speakers and a network of supportive leaders.
Samuel’s career in talent development began over 25 years ago where he served as a Military Training Instructor (MTI) for the 8050 Training Squadron at Lackland AFB, Texas in support of the Air Force’s Basic Military Training mission. In his time as an MTI he trained and educated over 2,000 basic trainees’ as well as trained, coached and mentored over 25 newly assigned MTI’s.
He obtained his first civilian position in talent development as a Training Officer for City of San Antonio’s Code Enforcement Department in 2002. He directly supported the department’s efforts in training and educating its staff in the areas of property & city law, health & safety and, customer service with the primary goal of increasing the department’s overall effectiveness and efficiency.
Burger King Corporation asked Samuel to take on the role of Operations Trainer in 2004 where he assisted in the creation, development and implementation of a leadership training program for restaurant managers both in English and in Spanish. He also translated the ServSafe® Food Safety training program into Spanish to assist restaurant managers where English was a second language nation-wide.
In 2011 Samuel was asked to assist in the creation, development and implementation of a learning program to assist in the next generation of project managers for Chevron Corporation. After the project was completed, he then took on the role as Director of Education for Heartland National TB Center where he managed and implemented various educational programs designed to assist doctors and nurses in increasing their knowledge of tuberculosis. In 2014 he became the Talent Development Manager for CCC Group where he designed, developed and implemented a project management learning program for all project leaders’ company wide.
Samuel’s education includes an Associate of Science in Training Methodologies and another in Human Resources Management from the Community College of the Air Force. His Bachelor of Arts is in Urban Planning with a minor in Economics from Texas State University and, a Master of Arts in Management from Webster University. He holds two credentials to include the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance from the Association of Talent Development and the Safety Trained Supervisor from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He is also certified in the facilitation of Shipley Communication’s Four Lenses self-assessment program.
San Antonio is home where he lives with his wife Yorka and two loves of her life: Samuel and Isabella. His hobbies include reading self-development books, running long distances and traveling with his family.
