Joyce Gibson is Vice President of Instructional Design, Learning Technologies and Technical Communications at Barclays. 

I lead a geographically-dispersed group of instructional designers and communicators. I oversee Barclay’s instructional design organization, which creates training, learning and development solutions for Operations including Customer Care, Collections, Fraud and Credit.  My focus over the past year has been on digital transformation through the use of learning technologies.   

In just under a year, under my leadership, digital offerings increased by 350%.   I am a passionate people leader focused on building capabilities within my team. 

 

Prior to joining Barclays, I managed a variety of learning functions at multiple Fortune 500 companies including Capital One, JPMorgan Chase and ING Direct.  Most recently I led the digital learning transformation at Capital One, which increased the digital fluency of the associate base of 40,000+.  I also led the instructional design and development team responsible for digitizing Card learning. 

 

During my tenure at Capital One I authored an application that led to the company being ranked #9 on Training magazine’s Top 125 companies for employer-sponsored workforce and development programs.   

I earned my MBA from the University of Delaware, where I was also a residence hall director.  I hold a BS in finance and management from the University of Delaware and am a Master Instructional Designer through ATD.  I am a founding member of the Chief Talent Development Officer (CTDO) through the Association for Talent Development and participated in the inaugural ATD Yale University Foundation of Management Excellence program.  Additional certifications include eLearning instructional design and Articulate Storyline through the Association for Talent Development. 

I'm a founding member of Chief Talent Development Officer (CTDO Next) and represented Barclays at the International Conference & Exposition in April 2017 in Atlanta, GA and at the Chief Talent Development Officer Next event in Napa, CA in November 2017.  I'm excited to join the ATD conference in San Diego, CA in May 2018 and the CTDO conference in Miami, FL October 2018. 

 

I've completed coursework for Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certification and am expected to receive this prestigious learning distinction in April 2018.

I am an active and proud member of my community, I'm a member of the Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) at Barclays.  I enjoy donating my time to a variety of philanthropic efforts including monthly volunteering at 2 elementary schools. 

I'm married to my college sweetheart and husband of 17 years, Michael.  I love spending time with and planning special surprises for my children Julianna (7) and Luke (5).  In my spare time, I enjoy photography, gardening and participating in fitness activities.
