Research suggests that virtual workers may forget that they are communicating through a computer or technology to another person and not communicating to the computer. Research conducted in 2017 about trust between virtual workers and social presence theory reveal simple solutions for reinforcing the humanness behind computer-mediated-communications. This article is based on research I conducted as part of my Ph.D. into the perceived barriers and supports to using computer-mediated-communication to establish trust between virtual workers.
