I work for an insurance company and have been tasked with designing, developing and delivering a training curriculum for our associates at a specific experience level in their role. Throughout the design phase, I've worked with our leadership, the associates themselves and SME's to gather the information around specific topics we needed training on and the business need the training will be solving. The curriculum has been designed as a blend of different delivery methods based on topic ie. providing the learners with required resources to review in order to complete a quiz, instructor led session on a more complex topic that also included hands on application and then followed by a quiz afterwards. After the first few topics and tests, there has been a pattern that the learners just don't seem to be grasping any of the information. Keep in mind the quizzes are open note/resource, they are not timed and they have multiple attempts to take the quiz in order to pass if they didn't pass the first time. Passing is 90% or better. The first quiz resulted in a class average of 80%, the second is sitting at a 60%. I don't know if they just aren't taking this seriously because it's a pilot? Or are they truly not understanding the material? From general feedback sessions I've had with this group, the quiz questions aren't too difficult - they found them fair given they can use their notes/resources I provided them. I am feeling discouraged and I'm sure this group is feeling the same way with another quiz with less than stellar results. Any advice?
