Using Zoom tools creatively

Published: Friday, January 8, 2021

What are some creative ways you have used Zoom tools?

I have started out a session by asking Green Check/Red X questions, just as an icebreaker, 3 or 4 times, with the final question being Who is ready to get started?  This has been effective in building excitement and  as a way to model interactivity as we begin.

I've experimented with some simple American sign language for participants to communicate approval, agreement, etc. Also, I like to start classes by asking people how they are showing up for the class. They can go to the 3 dots (more) and change their name to say their first name and a word. For example: Lianne is excited. That has been fun although it takes a moment. Another fun thing is to use the video filters -- funny hats, lipstick, mustaches,, etc.
Thanks for your ideas!

Allowing on screen annotation by participants is always engaging, and using break out rooms well can be a great boost, especially with large groups.
Thanks!
