Fried Training Talk- Halfway Thru 2020

What do we know at the half way mark of 2020?

It is hard to believe half of 2020 is gone as of today. So much has changed in the world. From an increase in social awareness and new attempts at inclusiveness, to the health requirements of Covid-19, yet my job (our job) to develop effective productive workers who feel valued and supported through training and workflow support, still has that same essential goal.

I have friends who find themselves furloughed, or laid off, due to the circumstances of our world, yet when I talk with them most seem optimistic about the opportunities to make a difference when they return to the workforce.

With all the stress and downsizing it is easy to fall into the trap of negativity. Try to stay positive. I believe as an industry there is a ton of opportunity for growth as the staff development/employee productivity world evolves to a better normal.

With that in mind, please answer these 2 questions in the comments:

  1. What positive developments have you seen come out of the first half of 2020?
  2. What positive developments do you see coming over the rest of the year?

If anyone else responds here, I’ll share my answers early next week sometime.

I promised I'd post a couple of my answers to this on here.
1. What positive developments have you seen come out of the first half of 2020?
--- I see a lot of companies taking the wake up call seriously and are investing in their employees, with more impactful remote, accessible training and Performance support directed at their productivity rather than checking a box.
2. What positive developments do you see coming over the rest of the year?
I think the investment the smart companies are making in moving forward will pay off with a shift away from ineffective Page Turner Web based learning, and Sage on Stage (sit and listen) Instructor Led trainings toward more effective trainings built with the "real client" in mind, the trainees.
Is that what the rest of you are seeing?
