From something as simple a flip a coin to 4 dimensional chess, games are something we have all learned from at some point, even if the lesson was “I don’t like playing this game.”

As someone who loves both playing and designing games I enjoy learning and seeing people learn from games. Currently, I am involved with designing 2 very different learning games on very different topics. The gulf between these 2 topics got me thinking about training taboos a little.

Hello Keith.
This is not a direct answer to your question, but may lead you in the right direction.
Check out Jane McGonigal on The Knowledge Project podcast: https://fs.blog/knowledge-project/jane-mcgonigal/
The title is "The Psychology of Gaming". Also, here is her website https://janemcgonigal.com/
I found her comments insightful and maybe they will provide an answer to your question. One thing for sure is that "gamification" is not for everything.
Thanks for the comment and the link.
I will add there there is a challenge to "One thing is for sure is that "gamification" is not for everything" on the LinkedIn version of this post. So far no one has provided a topic there that may not be successfully gamified.
