To Record 4k or not to Record 4k, that is the Question

Published: Tuesday, December 18, 2018

... and aye, there's the rub!

We are having a spirited debate amongst the developers on our team about best practices for recording screen captures. It basically breaks into the following two positions.

1) Record at a resolution near/around 1280x768. This happens to be the lowest common denominator in our organization's laptop fleet. When recording web content / applicatiosn in this resolution, the proponents also like to use the zoom features of the browser to resize the content and make it more readable for the end user.

2) Record at a resolution near/around 1920 x 1080 or 4k on the shiny iMacs. This provides the highest quality recording, and the proponents of this approach want to use zoom in features to highlight certain points. When not zoomed in, the actual recordings can be more difficult to read for the end user.

I'd love to get some ouside opinions to add to our stalemate debate on this topic. Any thoughts on this topic?
