Facilitation Assessment

Published: Friday, September 4, 2020

I have been tasked with creating a 'rubric' for assessing our trainers and facilitators on their skill in leading workshops and training events.

This is to be used for coaching - not evaluation of job performance.

I am not finding many resources to use for this and really want to support our team in delivering high-quality learning experiences for our clients.

I'm curious to know if anyone has a resource, or has developed one?

Tina, my company Talent Metrics created a rubric for e-learning that you can find at this link https://survey.TalentMetrics.io/r/4kFowy you may find it helpful as you develop your own rubric
Thank you so much Sayeedul!

Tina,
I've used a basic template of questions (i.e., yes, no, other) describing the facilitator's ability to accurately and effectively communicate, deliver the content, control the environment, and execute the objectives. I don't see a case for more detail unless you couple facilitator evaluatations with ongoing performance of the participants in your context. Btw, this was pre-COVID-19.

When I ran the CPR training for a previous employer I developed a 1 page questionnaire that the evaluator filled out (in addition to what the American Heart Association provided). In addition there were 2 blank pages for Excellent Training Techniques & Opportunities to Improve the training. Reviewing these after a session led to positive response even from trainers who were nervous about the process.
Thanks Keith!
