Training Department Organizational Structure

We are currently evaluating our organizational structure and I was wondering if there are examples available of how companies are currently organizing their departments to support/enable the business units that they support as they scale into a global organization. Anyone out there have a good resource they've used or approach they have taken that could be shared? Specifically within the software industry would be helpful.
