Learning Technologies Ecosystems

Thursday, February 15, 2024

In today’s organization, technology plays a role in creating, managing, analyzing, and delivering learning. In this study we’ll explore the different parts of the learning technology ecosystem – including the tools organizations use to create, deliver, and manage their learning content (including LMS), along with the people, processes, and strategies that bind the entire learning technology ecosystem together.Key Findings: Talent development professionals have many tools to help with the development, administration, delivery, and evaluation of learning programs, but they don’t always fully utilize each tool. Only a third of organizations were conducting formal reviews of their learning technology ecosystem. When organizations did these audits, about half were continuously reviewing their system, focusing on learning content, learner satisfaction, and learner needs. Two-thirds of organizations had a data governance strategy. One of the most common strategies included improving compliance with data regulations. It’s important for TD professionals to have technology skills – almost three quarters of organizations considered this when making hiring and promotion decisions. Most talent development professionals felt comfortable troubleshooting technology, but they may need some training in how to identify technology system requirements.
