Using Mobile to Take Onboarding From the Classroom to the Field

Preparing new hires for their role can be done in many ways. Verifying that they can successfully conduct their operational responsibilities is a continual challenge and theory tests only go so far. In this session, the speakers will look at how one company adopted a mobile-first onboarding resource to help validate and correct application of learning in the field. While modern authoring tools can provide mobile responsive content, the true power of the mobile device is in its capacity to promote and support active learning by inviting new hires to immediately reflect on their experiences. The speakers devised learning application activities that require the technician to capture evidence to verify competence in the field. They will show how this approach has led to a new model of competence assessment at their company.
