L&D consultations are a don’t-miss opportunity at ATD23.

LinkedIn Learning’s 2023 Workplace Learning Report explains that, for L&D leaders to drive agility in the people and organizations they serve, they should “reach for opportunity amid the storm” and “realize that agility requires building more relevant skills, more quickly.” To do so, the study notes, L&D professionals should embrace cross-functional partnerships; champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives; improve data skills; support career development; and prioritize their own learning.

Indeed, a lot is being asked of today’s talent development professionals and the challenges are many. Do you have the necessary skills to meet them? Does your team? How will you take what you’re learning here at ATD23 and put it into practice?

Through the Learning & Development Consultations feature at ATD23, you can gain expert advice from ATD staff and create a personalized development plan for yourself or your team, as well as prepare for earning ATD Certification Institute’s APTD or CPTD credential. The consultations are one-on-one conversations offered on a complimentary basis to conference attendees.

A staff member will ask a series of questions about your role, the capabilities you’d like to develop, and your professional goals. You will leave the conversation with an action plan that will enable you to take an immediate step toward achieving your growth goals. The consultations provide an opportunity for you and ATD to partner to find the best solutions for your professional development and upskilling.

Although it’s not mandatory, consider taking the Talent Development Capability Model self-assessment ahead of the consultation so you can more fully understand your strengths and areas of opportunity for development.

The self-assessment gives users a chance to assess their proficiency against current and future skills within the interactive Capability Model. The Enterprise version of the self-assessment enables managers to evaluate the skills of their direct reports and their team as a whole to understand what development individual members need, what capabilities the team as a whole needs, and potentially what skills they need to hire for when expanding their team.

Just have a couple questions about the direction of your professional development? Consultants can answer those as well. And keep in mind that all ATD23 sessions are based on the Talent Development Capability Model, which outlines what members of the profession need to know to be successful both now and in the future.

The individual consultations, which ATD first offered during last year’s annual conference, take place at ATD Central. The team plan conversations will occur in the ATD Enterprise Solutions booth on the EXPO floor (booth #2305). Consultation sessions will take place throughout the conference.

Sign up for a time slot via the ATD23 app or, if you’re on the move, stop by ATD Central or the ATD Enterprise Solutions booth to meet with a consultant.

Already have your conference schedule mapped out and don’t have time for a consult during ATD23? Schedule an appointment with an ATD staff member to discuss what to do next.
