Looking for a better idea of what will happen at ATD23 in San Diego? Let’s take a step back and look at a few highlights from last year at ATD22 in Orlando. This will give you a feel for what to expect in San Diego, whether you’ll join us in person or virtually.

ATD Store. Last year, the ATD Store featured a selection of almost 600 books for attendees to buy, copies of TD at Work guides, and research reports. The conference’s keynote speakers, Jay Shetty and Bert Jacobs, each held a book signing.

The ATD Store is back this year with books and merchandise available at discounted pricing, notably three new books and an ATD research report. There will also be meet-and-greets at the store throughout the conference.

Chapter Excellence Awards. The 2022 Chapter Excellence Awards recognized efforts by chapters in 2021 for everything from joint membership growth to advancing the profession through ATD certification.

The Greater Atlanta Chapter, the Austin Chapter, and the Maine Chapter were among the winners.

TD Award Winners. Every year, ATD honors individuals and organizations for their commitment to L&D. The winners, who are all also recognized in the 2022 Best Practices issue of TD magazine, were honored at a ceremony during last year’s conference.

Winners included Jack and Patti Phillips of the ROI Institute, Thomas Kramer of the University of Texas at Tyler, and Katja Zurcher of Abrigo.

Keynotes. Bert Jacobs is the cofounder and chief executive optimist of Life is Good, a $150 million lifestyle brand. He wanted to leave his ATD22 audience with tools to activate their optimism.

Jay Shetty, a former monk and current New York Times bestselling author, encouraged attendees to find their purpose, regardless of unexpected paths in life. He also shared four habits that have helped him: thankfulness, inspiration, meditation or mindfulness, and exercise.

In addition to Shetty and Jacobs, SPANX founder and executive chairwoman Sara Blakely was an ATD22 keynote speaker. Blakely, who went from selling fax machines to starting SPANX, a billion-dollar corporation, with only $5,000, spoke about having the right mindset.

You’ll have the opportunity to experience this year’s keynotes, awards, books, and much more at ATD23 in San Diego. We can’t wait to see all of you!
