Eric Fielding is a Training Program Advisor in the US. He earned the Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD®) credential in 2014.

Why did you pursue the CPTD?
I pursued the credential to ensure I had the most complete baseline of knowledge and the most prestigious certification in the training industry.

How have you benefited from the credential—professionally and/or personally?
I have been able to demonstrate to industry colleagues and others the value of the CPTD.

What advice would you share with others considering certification?
Work hard, learn, collaborate, and practice your craft.

How do you think certification helps the talent development field?
Certification shows that we have a body of knowledge and experience which is as good or better than any other field.

How did your employer support your pursuit of the credential?
My employer has shown support for my personal development.

What does having your credential mean to you?

How did you get into the talent development field?
It is hard to remember how I got into TD, but I am glad I did!

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Get a mentor.

What is a great book you’ve read recently?
Curious George by H. A. and Margret Rey (for my toddler)

What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
I enjoy raising my son.
