Carolyn W. Colvin is acting commissioner of the Social Security Administration (SSA), and brings more than 30 years of senior executive leadership experience to the agency. Under her leadership, the agency strives to provide excellent customer service in today’s tight fiscal climate while positioning itself to deliver services that meet the changing needs of the public. Previously, Carolyn was the deputy commissioner for the SSA, and has led numerous health and human service organizations at the state and municipal levels of government. She received an honorary doctorate and undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration from Morgan State University.
