Juan Mavo-Navarro has always been interested in instructional systems design and learning design, concepts he has extensively explored as a professor, researcher, corporate trainer, e-learning developer, and learning technology consultant.

Originally from Venezuela, he put forward the idea of offering undergraduate students a framework that would enable them to pursue education through the internet and helped start an online distance education unit more than 20 years ago, when no one else was speaking about it. Since then, he has worked in the online education and e-learning realms, offering his experience and guidance to individuals and organizations in search of new approaches and efficiencies in these fields.

Mavo-Navarro has talked about his experience in conferences sponsored by prestigious organizations such as the Association for Talent Development (ATD), the University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA), the Canadian Association for University Continuing Education (CAUCE), and the Learning Guild. He has also worked with higher education and continuing education institutions, private corporations, and professional associations to help them achieve their goals.
