Digital Strategist, Renowned Tech Entrepreneur, and Innovation Expert to Keynote ATD 2015 TechKnowledge® ConferenceThe Association for Talent Development (formerly ASTD) announces the keynote speakers for the upcoming 2015 TechKnowledge Conference & Exposition: Aaron Dignan, founding partner of Undercurrent, Tan Le, founder and CEO of Emotiv, and tech expert Katie Linendoll. TechKnowledge will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 14-16. The conference is designed to ensure talent development professionals can identify and implement the latest trends occurring at the intersection of learning and technology.More than 1,200 attendees are expected to attend the 2015 TechKnowledge Conference & Exposition. Instructional designers, talent development professionals, knowledge managers, and others will choose from more than 90 concurrent sessions and have the opportunity to interact with the leading experts and suppliers in the field. Eight education tracks include: e-learning; management and implementation; serious games and simulations; social; mobile; platforms and tools; virtual classrooms; and emerging technologies.Two new alternative program offerings include E-learning Checkups for attendees who want advice on programs they are designing or implementing in their organizations; and TechKnowledge Unplugged, five programming blocks that can be structured by attendees on the spot.The opening general session on Wednesday, January 14, will feature Aaron Dignan, author, digital strategist, and founding partner of Undercurrent. Tan Le, founder and CEO of Emotiv Lifesciences will speak at the general session on January 15. Keynote Speakers for ATD 2015 TechKnowledge Announced

Note: Please scroll down to access the Spanish version of this blog entry.Global Voices at ASTD 2013The annual ASTD International Conference & Exposition is a truly global event. At this conference, we will have more than 9,000 training & development professionals; 2,000 of those will come from 75 different countries outside the U.S. All of this diversity will be represented by global voices in 28 sessions with 45 speakers from more than 17 different countries.Some of the sessions that I am looking forward to hearing include:“Going Global? Go Prepared! 4 Pillars of Effective Global Training Implementation”“Global Leadership Starts Locally: Creating Leadership on a Global Scale”“Let’s Play: How VIVO Prepared 40,000 Salespeople with Games” Another session in which I am particularly interested is the World Café: Global HRD Trends and Challenges.  This session is based on a similar session we hosted at ASTD 2012 in Denver. Last year, I had the privilege to coordinate and facilitate a group of three training & development professionals; Hannelore Calmeyn, Director of VOV from Belgium, Janneke Schenning former Director of NVO2 from Netherlands, and Fernando Sanchez-Arias Director of MEJORAR from Venezuela. Together we hosted a session based on the World Café methodology developed by Juanita Brown and David Isaacs. We had more than 50 attendees in our session, as we presented the methodology.  The best part was that attendees from 17 different countries created and generated valuable content right there. We discussed trends in their countries and challenges while producing training programs. We tried to find solutions, and we brainstormed about how we saw the future of the profession in our countries and regions.The discussions were very engaging, extremely interactive, and people left inspired and with new ideas to put into practice when returning to their countries. As Americans would say “the proof is in the pudding;” a whole article was written about it in the February 2013 issue of T+D magazine: ”Human Capital Realities Pose Challenges Across the Globe” by Fernando Sanchez-Arias, Hannelore Calmeyn, Ger Driesen, and Evert Pruis.  This is just a small example of the more than 240 education sessions that you can find at the ASTD 2013 International Conference & Exposition. I always insist that if you learn a new idea and you come back home with at least 10 new business cards from different parts of the world, you can start creating new development opportunities for yourself and your organization.One of the main reasons you should consider joining us is the opportunity to network.  We live in a global community where most businesses are more and more interconnected.  You never know when you might need the help of another colleague who is 7,000 mile away from you. By attending ASTD 2013 you might learn something new, share your knowledge or a best practice, or even put together a global initiative that impacts your employees and others in a different organization in the other side of the world!Don’t miss a chance to be ahead of the curve, know what’s coming in the field, learn something new, share your knowledge, and meet new people that you might never have met if you had not been sitting in the Global Village during your coffee break while getting ready for your next session.I hope to see you in Dallas at ASTD 2013!Voces globales en el Congreso de la ASTD 2013El congreso y exposición internacional ASTD 2013 es un evento realmente mundial, donde  más de 9,000 profesionales de capacitación y desarrollo, de los cuales más de 2,000 provienen de 75 países diferentes. Toda esta diversidad estará representada en lo que llamamos en el congreso “voces globales”. Más de 28 sesiones educativas con 45 ponentes internacionales de 17 países diferentes.Algunos ejemplos de sesiones que me parecen muy interesantes serian:“Going Global? Go Prepared! 4 Pillars of Effective Global Training Implementation”“Global Leadership Starts Locally: Creating Leadership on a Global Scale”“Let’s Play: How VIVO Prepared 40,000 Salespeople with Games” Otra sesión en la que estoy muy interesado es  el World Café: Global HRD Trends and Challenges. Esta sesión está basada  en una sesión similar la cual tuve el privilegio y el honor de coordinar y facilitar el año pasado. Un grupo de tres profesionales de formación y desarrollo procedentes de Bélgica, Holanda y Venezuela y yo, pusimos juntos una sesión  basada en la metodología del “World Café”  de Juanita Brown y David Isaacs. Tuvimos más de 50 participantes en la sesión; nuestro papel fue básicamente presentar la metodología  y los profesionales de 17 países diferentes crearon  y generaron allí mismo contenido valioso mediante debates en la sesión. Debatimos sobre tendencias de capacitación y desarrollo profesional en nuestros países, debatimos sobre los principales desafíos en los programas de formación, intentamos buscar soluciones a esos desafíos y finalmente aportamos ideas sobre nuestra visión del futuro de la profesión en nuestros países y regiones.Las  discusiones fueron muy amenas, muy interactivas y la gente salió inspirada y con al menos una nueva buena idea para ponerla en práctica al regresar a su país. Como diría una expresión norteamericana, “la prueba está en el pudding”, para nosotros sería “a las pruebas me remito”. Fruto de la sesión se escribió un artículo en la revista de ASTD  T+D en el mes de Febrero llamado “Las distintas realidades del capital humano crean desafíos a lo largo del planeta” por Fernando Sanchez-Arias, Hannelore Calmeyn, Evert Pruis, Ger Driesen. Esto es solamente un pequeño ejemplo de las más de 240 sesiones educativas que podrá encontrar en el Congreso y Exposición Internacional ASTD 2013.  Siempre insisto en la idea de que si este congreso le aporta una nueva idea y si además regresa a casa con 10 nuevas tarjetas de distintas partes del mundo; podrá generar nuevas oportunidades  de desarrollo personal  para Vd. y para su organización.Una de las principales razones por las que debería considerar venir al congreso es la posibilidad de hacer “networking”, en un mundo con la fuerza laboral cada vez más globalizada e interconectada; nunca se sabe cuándo puede necesitar la ayuda de otro colega que está a más de 7.000 millas de Vd. Puede aprender algo nuevo, compartir sus conocimientos o una buena práctica o inclusive generar una iniciativa que impacte a sus empleados o a los empleados de otra organización en otra parte del mundo.No pierda la oportunidad de estar en la avanzadilla, conozca con anticipación que nuevas tendencias se acercan y aprenda algo nuevo, comparta su conocimiento, y conozca a nuevas personas que quizás nunca habría tenido la oportunidad de conocer si no las hubiera conocido mientras estaba sentado en la pausa café en el “Global Village” esperando para la siguiente sesión.¡Espero verlo en Dallas en el Congreso ASTD 2013!Por Iñigo Sanchez-Cabezudo, Gerente de Relaciones Internacionales para Europa y América Latina en ASTD
