During her 33-year tenure with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Sarah Gurwitz served in a wide variety of Human Resource positions. Since her retirement in 2008, she has been a private HR consultant where she provides expert consultation to both the federal government and private sector organizations.  Projects have included HR staff and Supervisory training, HR program assessments, technical HR advice, organizational assessments, workforce planning and policy development. Federal agencies have included, Department of Veterans Affairs, Federal Railway Administration, Department of Justice, Department of the Interior, and General Service Administration. Private sector organizations have been in not-for-profit religious organizations.  In addition, she serves as an Adjunct Faculty at NYU Wagner School of Public Administration teaching the required class in Human Resource Management in Healthcare and Capstone:  Advance Project (a required course for students pursuing a MPA).
