The article discusses strategies for retaining select employees beyond normal retirement age. The author believes that the strategy of retaining people, rather than rehiring them after their formal retirement, is an effective way to decreases the chance that a company will lose talented individuals to another company. The author refers to a 2005 Towers Perrin company study which found that the average per-employee total compensation costs associated with retaining workers older than age 50 is very small.
