ABOUT ME

The best days are when I can encourage someone and give them information that equips them to do better in whatever their endeavor. Fortunately, that happens just about every day.

I am Ellen Brisendine and I have more than 30 years of experience writing and editing for print and digital titles that educate and inform landowners and ranchers about best practices to manage their land, livestock, business and natural resources.

My style is crisp and conversational, using facts, anecdotes, examples and the stories of the subject-matter experts to answer the readers' WIIFM (What's In It For Me?) questions.

Healthy teams are the foundation of any healthy company or organization. I’ve had the privilege to manage a diverse group of onsite and remote professionals who ranged from extroverted sales people with great ideas to introverted production staff who carefully adhered to rules and deadlines. Together we created an atmosphere in which these different and equally important staff members were heard and understood.

Change is inevitable in business and life and good communication can ease the transitions in change management. When our 100-year-old print publication faced a complete redesign I navigated our team through extensive and sometimes painful reviews of legacy ideas and traditions. We kept the ones that continued to resonate with our readers and set aside those that were comfortable but outdated.

The redesign of our company website presented different challenges. I worked with a team of vendors and staff on programming and with co-workers in lobbying, membership, law enforcement and insurance to represent our non-profit association and reflect the browsing habits of our visitors.

Other areas in which I have used my skills include ghost writing opinion editorials for association leadership, organizing leader training and member education events, and photography.

I am a registered yoga instructor and a volunteer with the Mid-Cities Chapter of the Association for Talent Development.

If I can encourage or equip you, your staff or your teams, I look forward to our conversation at [email protected].
