Developing a training plan

Published: Wednesday, October 10, 2018

I am looking for some help in developing training plans for machine operators. The plan will then be used in the development of the training. The plan needs to include the needs assessment results, learning objectives, training goals, and evaluation for transfer of learning. Any ideas, help. or book suggestions would be much appreciated

Hi Martin! I'd be happy to discuss with you. I have worked with many organizations (both large and small) to develop customized training plans that focus on the development of job-ready skills and improved capabilities. Feel free to reach out. [email protected]

2. Having a structured training guide that follows the content of the manual is wildly helpful as well. In the training guide, there should be parts where the learner has to discuss certain job tasks with their trainer. The trainer should demonstrate the tasks and have the learner practice them until they feel comfortable with what they have to do. They will be required to demonstrate these skills to their trainer. For assessing the transfer of learning, skill and knowledge based tests.

Since your learners are in a skill-based environment, utilizing the apprentice model will allow the learners to have hands-on practice as they go through the training materials. I recommend assigning them to a designated trainer during their period of OJT. But, as far as training materials go, I recommend creating a learning manual that contains all of the information on the piece of equipment and include diagrams where applicable.
