ATD23 News has conducted impromptu interviews with ATD23 attendees in San Diego. In this installment, hear from Sheryl Dickman, instructional designer at Vanderbilt University Hospital.

On her role with Vanderbilt University Hospital: I develop content for the training. I did develop some e-learnings. We’re doing some self-paced learning. So, whatever the curriculum needs, they’re going to be for the clinical staff.

On her first time at ATD’s International Conference & EXPO: [It’s been] overwhelmingly awesome.

I just attended sessions, I’ve networked, I went out to lunch with someone new, took names and got connected on LinkedIn, and am inspired with new ideas.

On 30 years between trips to San Diego: I just went to the zoo [the last trip], so I was never downtown proper or anything. Just staying with a friend over at the Navy base. … The area is so beautiful. I am stunned.

On not being an ATD member: I was talking to them about it because I just need to decide which one (plan) to do. And I don’t have a local chapter where I live.

On what she’s looking forward to during the conference: All of it? [laughs] A yacht cruise tomorrow night!
