Join members of the Chapter Recognition Committee for an interactive 90-minute virtual workshop designed to help chapter leaders move from idea to submission with greater clarity and confidence. You’ll explore what makes an SOS stand out, learn how to surface the unique aspects of your chapter’s story that contribute to a great SOS, and work through common questions and roadblocks in the submission process.

Bring your idea, an SOS in progress, or simply your questions. This highly interactive session will include small group working sessions for brainstorming, fine tuning ideas, and preparing for an SOS submission. You’ll have opportunities to get feedback, learn practical best practices, and connect with other chapter leaders who are working toward the same goal.

Chapter leaders spend their volunteer hours helping members build skills for their organizations — but how often do we turn that same lens on our own chapters? Membership engagement, board turnover, program relevance to a changing profession, and who feels ownership over chapter leadership are all belonging questions, whether we name them that way or not.

Drawing on her forthcoming book The Belonging Blueprint: How to Design a Workplace Culture That Fuels Performance (ATD Press, November 2026), Maria Morukian will discuss the complexities of designing cultures that are truly built for everyone and how leaders often unconsciously get in the way of their own stated commitments to build belonging. This session will introduce practical strategies for embedding the concepts and practices of belonging more seamlessly into the architecture of any organization. Participants will discuss what it takes to nurture the challenging work required to sustain belonging efforts, and leave with tools for building resilience for themselves and others.
