Held in tandem with ATD24, the Chapter Leaders Conference has its own rewards.
Did you know that more than 800 volunteer talent development leaders comprise the Association for Talent Development’s chapter leader community? Serving is a great way to network, learn from others, and give back to the TD field.
For the first time, ATD held its annual Chapter Leaders Conference in conjunction with the International Conference & EXPO at ATD23 in San Diego, California. ATD24 is another opportunity for those attendees to connect, interact, and acquire best practices related to being a chapter leader.
Holding ALC—as the chapter leader gathering is known—immediately ahead of the larger ATD conference rather than convening near ATD headquarters in the fall, gives chapter leaders the benefit of only having to travel once, provides the chance for them to visit sites around the US, and enables them to learn from both their chapter leader colleagues and members of the profession more broadly.
In addition to conducting business, chapter members celebrated their Chapter Excellence Awards with new categories to recognize more areas of chapter operations. This year’s categories include Chapter Innovation, Community Impact, Commitment to DEI, Operational Excellence, and Membership Engagement. Leaders also recognized overall percentage of joint members and net joint membership growth.
Membership Engagement: Central Massachusetts
Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Austin, Texas
Operational Excellence: Valley of the Sun and New York City
Community Impact: Houston, Texas
Chapter Innovation: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Overall Power Membership: Chicagoland, North Dakota, Rhode Island
Net Joint Membership Growth: Greater Boston and Maine
Chapter leaders should make the chapter leader lounge, which will be open throughout the conference in room 202, their home away from home. Connect with other chapter leaders or your ATD chapter services team. Check the app for specific hours each day.
Not currently involved in your local chapter? During ATD24, chapter leaders will be sporting a purple ribbon. Approach any of them to ask about their experience as an ATD chapter leader and what it has meant to them.
