Have you been assigned to create a leadership development program? Is your organization updating your leadership development strategy?
Leadership continues to be an urgent concern throughout the world. Deloitte’s 2016 Human Capital Trends study reports that 89 percent of leaders across the globe ranked leadership development important or very important. That’s up from 87 percent in 2015. This growing concern is due to the VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) world we all live in. Organizations need to develop fundamental capabilities in their leaders earlier and accelerate their development.
Perhaps you’ve been assigned to identify leaders earlier and fast-track them to leadership roles. You may have been challenged to develop a culture that supports leadership development. Maybe you’ve been asked to create an experiential leadership program. ATD’s Creating Leadership Development Programs Certificate can help you with these and other situations.
Tammy Vetter, senior consultant for Medstar Health in Baltimore, Maryland, attended the certificate program in May 2016. She said, “I appreciated the opportunity to step back and evaluate what we’ve done and what we are planning to do in the context of the best practices that were presented. In addition, the tools we learned were comprehensive, concise, and organized in a format this is easy to reference in the future.”
The certificate program uses a five-phase LEADS model to guide the learning with ample time for discussion, problem solving, and sharing best practices. Jill Crawford, director of professional development at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois, also attended the May certificate program and said that the most valuable part was “sharing real-world ideas that work with other participants.”
If you are wondering how to incorporate leadership development ideas into your organization, this certificate program uses pre-work to ensure that learning is personalized. This approach makes it easier to implement upon your return to work. Raphael Lok, assistant training manager at Canon Hong Kong, stated that although “creating leadership development programs is a challenge, this workshop equipped me with the five-phase model and all the job aids to apply in my organization right after the workshop.”
If your organization is looking for ways to effectively cultivate leadership talent and to ensure that its leadership development strategy will meet the challenges of the future you may wish to check out ATD’s Creating Leadership Development Programs Certificate.
