Why did you pursue the APTD/CPTD? I am constantly seeking ways to support, engage, and develop professionals. The APTD allows me to showcase the skills and knowledge I use every day in helping others be the best they can be.

How have you benefited from the credential—professionally and/or personally? In pursuing the APTD, I became more familiar with the language, skills, and theory used throughout talent development, allowing me to expand my knowledge beyond the realm of training.

What advice would you share with others considering certification? Take your time and review the material. I can’t think of any better or more effective way to learn the material than finding ways to apply it.

How do you think certification helps the talent development field? This certification helps set a standard of knowledge for professionals getting started in the field and offers a shared language.

How did you get into the talent development field? I originally sought employment in higher education, and though I took a temporary role in talent development, I fell in love with the hands-on approach to helping others learn valuable skills.
