We lost a champion. The unexpected passing of Jay Cross has many in our community reeling, not only because he’s no longer with us, but because there’s now a giant hole where the passion, intellect, and drive of Jay lived within our community.

Jay contributed enormous amounts of thought leadership to all of us. He was a prolific writer and ATD was fortunate to publish some of his work. But his contributions to the field were more profound than what was captured in print. Jay raised the bar. He challenged assumptions, and challenged the rest of us to see beyond the present to imagine what the future of learning could be. I was privileged to have many conversations with him and to learn from him.

Others in our field are sharing their reflections of Jay and his work, and you can read many of them via the blogs of David Kelly and Clark Quinn.

On behalf of the ATD community, thank you Jay for all you gave to all of us. You helped create a world that learns better. We will miss you.
