Maynard Webb has always been the go-to guy when Silicon Valley companies have tough problems. Whether revamping eBay’s crashing servers or investing in emerging technology start-ups, Webb brings strategic and operational savvy to every issue and venture. Maynard Webb is currently the Chairman of LiveOps, a board member at Salesforce.com, and the founder of the Webb Investment Network, where he leverages an Affiliate Network of seasoned entrepreneurs to co-invest in transformational companies. In his new book called Rebooting Work: Transform How You Work in the Age of Entrepreneurship, Webb tackles outdated models of work, created a century ago, which no longer sync up with either individual or employers’ needs.
In this interview, he talks about his model of 4 different mindsets around work, gives examples of business leaders who share these mindsets, how technology has reshaped the way you work, and more.
What are the 4 different mindsets around work?
I created a framework for my new book, Rebooting Work, that’s the culmination of years of experience in managing and mentoring, and, I hope, will help people as they begin to rework how they think about work.
It identifies four different philosophies around work: Frame 1: Company Man or Woman, Frame 2: CEO of Your Own Destiny, Frame 3: Disenchanted Employee, and Frame 4: the Aspiring Entrepreneur.
