Connection Point reached out to three session leaders for the Association for Talent Development’s Virtual Conference: Unleash Potential and posed this question: What actions can talent professionals take right now to unleash their greatest potential?
Here are the tips they provided.
TD professionals may want to prioritize facilitating greater agility organizationally through systems and processes that are responsive to changing conditions and individually through learning and experiences that help employees and leaders cultivate the flexibility and nimbleness required in the face of change. Also, they may want to prioritize stronger connections to address the human need that current conditions have amplified and to enable the informal learning that’s at the root of individual and organizational success. —Julie Winkle Giulioni, author of Help Them Grow or Watch Them Go; Giulioni will lead the session “Offering the Career Development Your Organization Needs and Employees Want: An Updated Framework” (OrgDev)
TD professionals can start by taking three critical actions. First, identify the organizational capabilities that will create the greatest value for your company. Second, develop the architecture of your strategy by leveraging data, insights, and engagement platforms to build the desired employee experience. And finally, break the silos and enable your TD professionals to deliver seamless services to the business through multiskilled squads. —Wagner Denuzzo, head of capabilities for future of work at Prudential; Denuzzo will lead the session “Developing a Future-Ready Workforce” (Future of Work)
To unleash potential, always aim to meet your audience’s expectations and needs first and your expectations second. Next, scrutinize every word you say and every action you take. If anything does not add value to the presentation or audience, then it has no place. Finally, give your listeners the experience you would want to have if you were sitting in the audience; show up with the intent of setting your audience on fire! —Bridgett McGowen, owner and operator of BMcTALKS; McGowen will lead the session “20 Super Easy Ideas to Take Your Presentations From ‘OK’ to ‘Oh Wow!’” (Core4)
