According to the latest NMC Horizon Report released by the New Media Consortium and the Educause Learning Initiative, six technologies could change the face of classroom learning — including game-based learning, gesture-based computing and network implementation. Mobile gadgets and improvements in tablet and smartphone technology will drive these trends in school and corporate classrooms, says the report. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/igeneration/what-technologies-will-shape-the-future-of-higher-ed/15272
While not exactly news, these trends will continue to drive change in the classroom.
• Data saturation stands as a challenge to education professionals
• Education paradigms are shifting to accommodate online learning, ‘hybrid’ learning, and collaborative models
• People now expect flexibility in how they work, learn, and study
• Technologies will be increasingly cloud-based
• Challenges to learners and ‘active’ learning models will increase
• Work is increasingly collaborative, driving changes in how learners’ projects are structured.
